Derailment of an SNCB/NMBS passenger train
On 18 February 2017 around 1:11 p.m., shortly after leaving the Leuven station, a passenger train derails while traversing the switches. One passenger dies during the derailment. Three passengers are severely injured. There is significant damage to the infrastructure and the rolling stock.
